Belmont Race Park
Belmont Race Park is located in Elmont, in the Town of Hempstead, in Nassau County, New York, on Long Island adjoining New York City. It was first opened on May 4, 1905.
Belmont Race Park plays host to the third leg of the Triple Crown, The Belmont Stakes. This track has a lot of history, with famed black filly, Ruffian, buried at the in field, the only horse to be accorded such an honour. Other famed events of the past include, Affirmed's stretch dual against Alydar in the 1978 Belmont Stakes, a win that secured Affirmed's Triple Crown championship.
